Traceability of blood bags

In the management of blood bags, Astir has designed and developed two solutions that allow:

• Identifying blood bags and blood component using RFID technology
• Ensure the traceability of the bag from the collection point to the SIMT and then to the final distribution point
• Guarantee the traceability of the transfusion bag from the SIMT to the patient’s bed

The two solutions developed by Astir are integrated with the management systems of the transfusion departments and have been successfully tested at the hospitals of:

• San Gerardo Hospital in Monza
• Sant’Anna Hospital in Como
• Manzoni Hospital in Lecco
• Spedali Civili di Brescia
